What is Sadhe Sati?
Sadhe Sati (साढ़े साती) is a 7.5-year period in Vedic astrology when Saturn (Shani) transits through three signs — the 12th, 1st, and 2nd houses from your natal Moon sign. Since Saturn spends approximately 2.5 years in each sign, the total transit lasts about 7.5 years.
This period occurs roughly 2-3 times in a person's lifetime (every ~30 years as Saturn completes its orbit). While traditionally considered a challenging period, it is also a powerful time for personal growth, discipline, and karmic learning.
The Three Phases
1. Rising Phase (Aarambh) — 12th from Moon
Increased expenses, mental stress, and restlessness. A time to be cautious with finances and health.
2. Peak Phase (Madhya) — Over the Moon sign
The most intense phase. Emotional turbulence, health issues, and career challenges. Also the deepest period of growth.
3. Setting Phase (Antya) — 2nd from Moon
Financial pressures and family concerns. The intensity gradually decreases as this phase ends.
